Subaru Forester gets a facelift

The South African range of Subaru Forester will see a welcome addition in May this year, with more power and striking looks.

The two locally developed, limited edition Forester Prodrive models have been fitted with the turbocharged 2.5-litre engines, updated wheels and suspensions.

Managing director of Subaru SA, Teresita van Gaalen revealed the car at the Durban auto show this year, and said that the new model combines performance, road holding and the practicality of an SUV.  There is an increase in power form 169 to 185kW at 5600rpm and torque from 320 to 360Nm at 3000.  The engine management computer is upgraded and the suspension is lowered by 50mm.

The Prodrive can reach 100km/h in less than 7 seconds and puts the Forester firmly on the map in the sports wagon market.  It runs on 18” alloys and a super sporty front lip and rally tailgate spoilers and special grille completes the look.

Only 50 Forester XT Prodrive units will be available from May at R359 000 for the Five-speed manual and R369 000 for the four-speed semi-automatic.  With four approved Prodrive dealers, including Durban, Brynston, Midrand and Bruma, you better order now if you want one of these new Subaru’s.
