Volkswagen Golf just keeps going and going
In Wolfsburg, Germany, the 25-millionth Golf has been produced and the count goes on.
In 1974, the first Golf was assembled and within three years production reached a million units. Today, 33 years later, the 25-millionth Golf to be produced was a red Golf 1.4 TSI. And they just keep going and going.
Plant manager Dietmar Korzekwa says that producing 25 million vehicles in 33 years is a great achievement of which they are very proud. Of the 25-million Golfs produced, 15-million were produced at Wolfsburg alone. He is very greatful to all their committed employees.
Wolfsburg is the largest vehicle factory under one roof in the world and comprises over an area of 6.057 square kilometres with its own hospitals and 75km of roads. It’s almost like a town on its own!
In 2006, more than 716 000 Golfs were sold globally and Volkswagen is still counting.
