Toyota’s Way of Doing Business Will Not Change

Toyota is the largest automaker in the world, leaving big names like General Motor Corp second in line.

But for the Vice President Akio Toyoda, a descendant of the family that founded the company in the 19th century, being the best is about a lot more than sales figure.

He says that the way they do business is not likely to change much, their motto being high quality control and reduced costs.  It is this, together with a world known brand, which makes Toyota the leading automaker globally.

Toyoda is still very much involved in the day-to-day operations at Toyota, keeping a firm hand over the business and ensuring quality output.

In the USA automakers focused mainly on sports utility vehicles, whereas Toyota developed environmentally friendly vehicles.  This proved to be something that Americans was longing for, putting Toyota on top of the leader board.

In the 1980s Japanese companies made their first major impressions in the States with their vehicles, and most automakers, even Toyota, took some strain.

Apart from being ahead of its peers in quality and service, Toyota announced that it would be creating approximately 2000 new jobs when it builds its 8th North American plant in the Southern US state of Mississippi.  And this at a time that Detroit automakers are slashing their workforce.  Gives you something to think about, doesn’t it?
