The new Peugeot 207 CC – very original
In 1929, Peugeot was the first car manufacturer to introduce vehicles with a folding top – now known as coupe cabriolet (CC). They have yet again brought a brand new CC to the market and it never seizes to amaze.
The Peugeot 207 CC is a practical coupe with a great appearance. The hard roof goes from up to down in seconds to allow for easy open-top motoring. This sexy coupe does appeal to a certain target market – the young, (mostly) female market. And more likely the higher income group. Style and quality plays a huge factor in all Peugeots and it can once again be seen in the 207 CC.
It is available in two models, the Sport 1 and the Sport 2. The Sport 2 costs about R30 000 more, but comes with leather upholstery, park distance control, retractable mirrors and an electronic stability programme (ESP). The most significant difference between the two models is however, the engine. The 207 CC is fitted with a 1.6 engine and the Sport 1 pushes out a respectable 88kW. The Sport 2 however, has the turbocharged version of this engine, increasing power to 110kW.
The looks are elegant, stylish and luxurious and the dashboard is covered with leather, which goes well with the aluminium panel forward of the boot and behind the rear seats. There is also a six-disc front-loading CD/audio system with a lot of boom, as you would need a little volume if you choose to take a drive with the top down.
The Peugeot 207 CC is a great car for singles or young couples, as it won’t really accommodate much more than two front passengers and a few pieces of extra luggage on the backseat. But, for R250 000 for the Sport 2, is sure makes for a good ride.
