The new Nissan Micra: Both cute and Practical

With prices ranging from R99 990 to R139 900, the new Micra range is sure to create a new benchmark for cars in its segment.

Apart from being really cute, the entry-level 1.4 litre Visia is available at R99 990 compared to the R124 500 of the first range’s entry-level model.  The range comprises of the three-door 1.5 litre dCi Tekna, 1.4 litre Acenta + and the Acenta Sport.  The five-door Acenta and the three-door Tekna both deliver 60kW at 4000 r/min and a top speed of 169km/h with their turbodiesel engines.  Not only are these funky new cars practical, but with an average fuel consumption of 5.54l/100km, they are really quite economical too.

One of the characteristics of the Micra that sets it apart from other smaller vehicles, is its styling and elegance.  The interior feels very spacious for such a tiny car and the load bay space is very generous when the seats are folded.

Both the Acenta + and Tekna models include front spoilers, colour coded bumpers, manual headlamp height adjuster, radio/CD unit, air-conditioning, electrical front windows, power steering and a rather large front passenger compartment.

So if you’re trying to break a world record in speed, the Micra range might not quite take you there.  But if you’re more interested in a funky, practical car with all the extras, at a really fantastic price, the new Micra range might just be for you.  All Micra models include a 3-year/100 000km warranty.
