Porsche Cabriolet in SA soon
The new Porsche Cabriolet will reach South Africa in October this year and if you are looking for a high-performance sports car, look no further.
Going from 0 – 100km/h in 4 seconds is really impressive. The new Cabriolet comes with a 3.6-litre, six-cylinder boxer engine and two variable-geometry turbochargers. An optional sport chrono turbo package adds an over-boost function to 680Nm for short periods. Both the manual-transmission version and the Tiptronic S will reach a top speed of 310km/h. General fuel consumption is 12.9litres/100km.
Even with steel tubing in the A pillars and rollover bars behind the rear seats, the new convertible weighs only 70gk more than the Coupé. The convertible’s three-layer top can be electronically raised or lowered in just 20 seconds.
According to Porsche, the stability management system and electronically controlled all-wheel drive can shift torque between front and rear axles faster than the engine can react to throttle input.
Bi-xenon headlights, 19” rims, air conditioning, wind deflector, six crash bags, satellite navigation with a 150mm screen and Bose surround sound come standard. Ceramic composite brake discs are an optional extra.
The South African price will be anything from R1.2-million upward.
