Nissan’s new Infiniti G37 sets a new benchmark for two-doors
In August this year, the Infiniti G37 will go on sale in the United States and Nissan is not sure of whether this funky new sports coupé will hit the South African showrooms, but we sure hope that it does.
It revs to 7500rpm and kicks out a claimed 245kW and 367Nm and comes in a six-speed manual, transmission or an electronically controlled five-speed semi-automatic transmission.
The G37 comes with power steering, vented disc brakes all round and four-channel ABS with electronic brake force distribution and brake assist. According to Infiniti US general manager Mark Igo, the new 3.7-litre V6 has special tuning that builds power almost continuously to the red line.
An extra-cost option is four-wheel steering that calculates the desired vehicle dynamics from the car’s speed and steering angle, then electronically changes the steering gear ratios and rear geometry by moving the steering rack and rear suspension lower links.
The G37 follows in the footprints of the G Coupé, which was shorter and slimmer and it is very luxurious and comes with all the trimmings. A leather-covered steering wheel, cruise control, remote locking, and MP3 player are just some of the fantastic features of Nissan’s new coupé.
Safety is of course also one of the characteristics that Nissan values very highly and fitted the G37 with six crash bags, pre-tensioned front seat belts and active head restraints. A Bluetooth hands-free telephony, touch screen satnav system, voice activation for navigation, and audio and air conditioning is also available.
The Nissan Infiniti G37 with its V6 engine is sure to make some waves……
