New Volkswagen racer for Austria
The Volkswagen GTI W12 650 comes directly from the racetrack. With a 6.0-litre Biturbo W12 engine and a top speed of 325km/h, there is no such thing as a limit.
It compares with the top super cars of the world and the chassis components were adapted directly from super sports cars. A specially engineered tire had to be made because of the huge wheel dimensions. The headlights, doors, front hood and tail lamps were taken from the classical GTI – because after all – this is a GTI.
The GTI W12 650 stands for W12 cylinder, 650 horsepower and is a name many will remember for many years to come. It is rear wheel drive and has ABS brakes (obviously). It kicks out 477kW at 6000rpm and 750Nm of torque at 4500rmp.
The carbon-fibre roof is a diffuser, preventing the lines of the GTI W12 650 getting ruined by putting on a roof wing – instead, it carries the wing inward. The roof is part of an enormous diffuser, which provides sufficient drift to the rear axle. The interior is set for the racetrack. With fire extinguishers in the place of the glove compartment and the leather is alcantara.
The Volkswagen GTI W12 650 will show the people of Worthersee what Volkswagen is made of, and more specifically, what the GTI is made of. And no, this super fast, powerful racing car will not be available in South Africa!
