New Renault to be Named and Launched Soon
Renault announced full details of the new Scenic derivative to be launched in South Africa before the end of the year. Overseas, the new model is called Conquest, but, for obvious reasons, Renault will rename the South African model.
The new Renault is front-wheel drive and is classified as a multi-purpose vehicle (MPV). Apart from the raised suspension, other trimmings allow the vehicle to look more adventurous and fun. The suspension has longer-stroke dampers and smaller-diameter anti-roll bars for greater suspension travel for any conditions.
Renault is not sure which one of two models will be released in South Africa, but the choice is between the 96kW, 1.9dCi turbodiesel and the 100kW, 2-litre petrol engine. Both come with a six-speed manual transmission system.
The exterior changes include lower bumper mouldings and black graphite coated wheel-arches. Safety features such as an electronic stability programme with traction control, and rear parking sensors come standard. So do the roof bars, air conditioning and electric windows.
The inside is bright and fun with orange seatbelts and upholstery inserts and orange stitching on the gearlever and steering wheel.
The new Renault is designed to be tough enough for the weekend’s tracks but elegant enough for the week’s travelling. So it’s a win-win situation.
