New Fiat to be launched soon - Fiat 500
Following in the footsteps of BMW’s success with its cut Mini, Fiat is launching a new version of the Fiat 500 and South Africans can expect it in our showrooms early next year.
It has been fifty years since the first Fiat 500 was launched and Fiat plans to build about 120 000 of the new Fiat 500s a year. Fiat has made a remarkable turnaround after some dark days when it looked as if they would have to close their doors and hopefully they will make the same comeback with the new Fiat 500.
Fiat’s European market share is up this year; from 7.8% in 2006 to 8.3% due to great sales of new models, including the Panda and Grande Punto what sold 420 000 units since its launch in late 2005.
Thanks to clever management tactics by Italian-Canadian Sergio Marchionne, Fiat is seeing light again. Lots of light. Fiat’s tie-up with Indian truck and automaker, Tata is very promising and a deal with Shanghai Automotive in China also demonstrates that Fiat understands the way business is done.
Be on the lookout for the new Fiat 500, and if you do decide to buy one, remember everything Fiat has gone through to come out on top again.
