Kia Sedona: A Family Car Big Enough For All
The new Kia Sedona that was launched in SA last month is big enough for everyone to go along. It has enough leg-room for eight adults and the air-conditioning and six –speaker radio/tape/CD/MP3 player just makes the ride so much more enjoyable.
The Kia Sedona is actually more like a bus, but it handles like a car, so mommy can also drive the kids (or the whole team) to rugby practice. The driver seat is power-adjustable in six directions by controls on the door panel and the space inside is just amazing.
There is a walkthrough between the two front armchairs and each of the two rear benches provides enough space for three adults to sit comfortably. A folding table with four cup holders swivels into position between the front seats. A 908-litre boot can be turned into a 2380-litre boot if the third row is removed or even a generous 4008-litre cargo bay if the second row is also removed.
The fascia is finished in soft-touch vinyl and leather upholstery comes standard. The body-colour front bumper divides the grille into two segments with triangular headlights. All controls are within easy reach for the driver, making it a less complicated vehicle to operate.
Each sliding side door has an electric motor activated by tugging the door release or by a rocker switch above the driver’s shoulder and each door has a pressure sensitive rubber gasket that will stop instantly if it touches an obstruction.
A 3.8-litre V6 petrol engine or 2.9CRDi turbodiesel is available and the latter is available in an automatic or five-speed manual gearbox. The V6 petrol engine comes with a standard five-speed semi automatic gearbox.
Safety is always priority and the Kia Sedona is fitted with power steering, sharp brakes and electronic stability programme.
Service intervals are 15 000km for both engines and prices range between R323 995 for the both the 2.9CRDi and the 3.8V6 and R333 995 for the 2.9CRDi a/t.
