Kia Picanto returns slightly modified
The Korean manufacturer of Kia cars plans to expand global sales of the Picanto to 90 000 units annually over the next few years.
The 2007 Picanto’s upgrades will be mostly on its looks and Kia believes that this new model could be named the next South African Car of the Year.
It is 40mm longer than its predecessor, giving it an overall length of 3 535mm and the nose is extended and rounded. It also has a deeper, larger rear bumper. The headlamps are much more rounded and also at the rear, the light clusters have been given rounded surfaces.
Changes inside include an upgraded dash, and steering wheel. The range’s 1.0-litre engine and specifications will remain the same.
According to Micheala Pazdera, Kia Motor spokesperson, the “old” stock should be sold out by September, when they plan to make the new Picanto available.
