Citroen C4 Picasso: Is it smart or just art?
Ever wondered what it would be like to drive something totally different to your fellow citizens? Well wonder no more. The new Citroen C4 Picasso has made a grand entrance in all garages.
This smart new model offers the driver a complete new outlook on life. Literally. The windscreen intrudes quite a way into where the roof should be, which can be supplemented with a full-length glass roof if you like, making the roof totally see-through.
The new five-seat model is more compact than its leaders, but just as sexy. The interior is designed for the new generation with all kinds of gadgets and even the option to change the colour of the dials, should the need arise. The minor controls are on the steering wheel and the parking-space sensor makes this car a good buy for those who tend to be a bit claustrophobic in small spaces.
The engine delivers excellent fuel economy and the parking brake engages automatically when the engine is switched off and disengages again when the car is put into gear. Unfortunately, the clutchless manual gearbox not something to get too excited about, as it is not as smooth as traditional automatic transmission or a manual gearbox. The rear seats don’t fold into the floor either.
The new Citroen C4 Picasso will be available in South Africa around July 2007. The Citroen is also quite pricey, ranging from R220 000 for an entry level 1.8litre petrol version, to the lower end of the R300 000 mark. So you have to ask yourself if this sexy little thing is really smart or is it just art?
