BWM does it again
From March 2007, BMW fans will be able to drive with peace of mind when the new BMW 5 Series will be fitted with Dynamic Stability Control (DSC), and Dynamic Performance Control.
Dynamic Performance Control is a system that takes over variable distribution of drive torque to the rear wheels, independently of engine power. It also distributes drive torque to the rear axle in response to driving conditions and neutralises the inherent tendency of four-wheel vehicles to understeer. Steering will need fewer corrections and stabilising interventions from the electronic control systems, while drive torque will be distributed between the rear wheels.
This development will increase traction and active safety, without compromising on driving pleasure. While most vehicles will understeer when cornering, the Dynamic Stability Control (DSC) will place pressure on the nearside rear wheel, stabilising torque up to 500Nm. Drive torque will be distributed evenly during thrust operation and clutch engagement.
According to BMW the vehicle follows the path of the curve at constant speed despite the stabilising braking intervention, making it not only a safe, but also a most pleasurable drive.
Once again BMW lives up to its motto: Sheer driving Pleasure.
