BMW and Mercedes Benz – are we seeing a BM-Benz coming?
To broaden their technological base in the area of future hybrid drive systems for the premium class, BMW Group and Daimler Chrysler AG have decided to collaborate within the next three years.
Both companies will benefit from the decision of pooling their collective knowledge and capacity as they both strive to strengthen the competitiveness in the premium segment. Although BMW and Mercedes Benz will still be individual cars, input from both companies will be made in manufacturing either of the two brands.
Germany will be the host to this development where integration of the two companies will allow for better quality measures and methods of testing and development. Both identities will be distinct and according to BMW Board member, Dr Klaus Draeger, the joint venture will not result in the dilution of the individual character of the Munich marque.
Creating environmentally friendly cars has become a growing aspect of both companies’ portfolios and we hope to see even bigger and better BMW’s and Benz’s in future.
