New BMW 3 Series convertible available in May

May 2007 will see a brand new, super sexy BMW 3 Series convertible with looks and features so hot, all you’d want to do is let the roof down.

Reaching 100km/h in 5.8 seconds and a top speed of 250km/h, the sexy convertible will sure make your head spin.  A six-speed manual or six-speed auto/manual sequential gearbox is available and you’ll also have the choice between a 200kW/315Nm direct-injection straight-six engine (330i) and the same block with two small turbos that kicks out 225kW/400Nm.

As with all convertibles, buyers are always worried about wind noise, but BMW assures that it is an incomparable standard of smoothness and silence inside the car.  So there you have it – stop worrying about the noise.  Both the 330i and 335i turbo are quite economic when it comes to fuel consumption, giving about 12.5km/l and 10km/l respectively.

The new 3 Series offers an even weight distribution and, according to BMW, achieves the highest level of flexural stiffness yet.

The side and rear windows are big and the roof is fully automatic, and opens and closes in 23 seconds, in a smooth motion.  One thing to remember though is that with the roof down, your boot space decreases by about 140 litres.

Prices range from R484 000 for the 330i Convertible to R591 500 for the 335i Convertible Steptronic.
