New Audi A5: Beautiful Indeed
According to Audi’s design chief Walter de’Silva, the new Audi A5 is the most beautiful car he has ever designed. And we agree.
The front axle was moved forward to avoid the nose-heavy feel, which was evident in the previous range because the longitudinal engine sits ahead of the front wheels. The final-drive gears now sit between the engine and the clutch. A sharper drive is promised due to revised suspension and steering systems compared with the current A4.
The engine purrs elegantly through its V8 and it can reach a top speed of 250km/h. The performance is amazing, going from 0 to 100km/h in 5.9 seconds. Fuel consumption is about 7.2 litres/100km. The new A5 has a 264kW, 4.2-litre V8 and costs about R550 000.
The front-wheel drive V6 engine A5 is powered by a 3.2-litre, 198kW engine and sends its power through a Multitronic transmission. It helps you to not lose track of where you are, which tends to happen when you drive these very powerful cars.
There is also the V6 turbodiesel. This one has a 3-litre V6 turbodiesel with 178kW on tap. All-wheel drive comes standard and so does the power.
The A5 3.0 TDI reaches 100km/h in 5.9 seconds and kicks out 500Nm of torque. Now that’s power for you.
The all-new Audi A5 range is really impressive. Its definitely got the power, and it even comes with great looks too.
