Kawasaki launches new race quad
With a full aluminium frame and high-tech chassis, the new Kawasaki KXF450R is 20% lighter and has strong roll resistance. The new Kawasaki quad is ready for action. Serious action.
The front suspension has long lower A-arms mounted to a single-box lower frame as on most custom-built racing frames. They minimise camber change as the suspension flexes, allowing the use of a long-stroke suspension.
The KFX450R is the first racing quad in its class with a reverse gear, making it easy to get back on track should you get over-excited and land in the bush. Kawasaki also claims the tyres will stay on the ground even when the quad is almost airborne.
It has the same engine as the KXF450F motocross bike (449cc), but for increased durability it comes with a light, three-ring forged piston and 21mm gudgeon pin. The titanium valves lower reciprocating mass and allow the engine to rev easier.
The rear shock-absorber is separately adjustable for low and high-speed compression damping as well as pre-load and rebound damping.
The KXF450R is fitted with electronic fuel-injection, which will, according to Kawasaki, keep engine response crisp as altitude, air temperature and humidity change through a long race.
The new Kawasaki is available at dealers across South Africa for R72 995 and once you take it from the showroom, you can go straight to the track, as you don’t have to stop at the workshop to have it fitted with expensive racing components. It is ready for action from the word go.
