Honda’s Varadero is up for any Trip

A new fuel-injection system is one of the few minor – but necessary – changes the Honda Varadero has undergone to make this bike more user friendly.

The bike is easier to ride in traffic, due to a leaner-running Euro 3-compliant fuel supply and a catalytic converter that has softened throttle response.  Performance is quoted as 69kW with 98Nm of torque at 6000rpm.

All gears have been slightly shortened but the 2007 model still recorded the same top speed as the previous model – 214km/h – but at 7500rpm instead of 7000.  Honda also claims lower fuel consumption.

Most other changes are made on the looks only, including the fuel tank coming in body colour rather than plain black and the engine covers are grey instead of anthracite.

The wide handlebars and high saddle makes it steer quickly and easily and the long wheelbase (1560mm) provides reassuring stability when doing some serious off-roading.

The Honda Varadero is perfect for all conditions and costs R97 800 in South Africa.
