2007 Sees an Even Better Kawasaki
Kawasaki’s Z1000 is said to deliver superbike performance but is also rider-friendly and suitable for everyday use.
Kawasaki quotes 92kW at 10 000rpm and 98.7Nm at 8200. More torque is delivered across the rev range, thanks to new camshaft profiles, smaller valves and throttle bodies that are 2mm smaller than on the previous model.
The lighter dual exhaust system retains the traditional four-pipe look and the gearing has been lowered for better acceleration. A longer wheelbase is achieved by moving the steering head 10mm forward, shifting the weight balance a little to the rear. Kawasaki says that this improves stability without sacrificing quick steering. They also say ride quality is improved due to a new cast-aluminium sub-frame that relocates the engine mounts behind the cylinder head rather than in front, closer to the engine’s centre of gravity.
Handlebars have been moved closer to the rider while the rear of the fuel tank is narrower. The width of the bike below the seat is 40mm less, enabling most riders to put both feet flat on the ground. Riders are also riding in a more upright position.
The 2007 Kawasaki with its LCD display consisting of a digital speedometer, odometer, water temperature, trip meter and fuel gauges and a clock comes in black or orange and retails for R89 995 with a two-year unlimited distance warranty.
