SA Off-road Championships to spectacular

The Nissan Dealer 400 will be held around Darling in the Western Cape and promises to be an event to remember.

In a Nissan Navara, Norwegian Ivan Tollefsen and British co-driver Quin Evans will compete against others for the title for Super Production Class for 2007.  The competition will be stiffer than ever, and the team to beat is the 2006 champions Hannes Grobler and Francois Jordaan and the experienced Duncan Vos/Ralph Pitchford.

SP Class champions Neil Woolridge and Kenny Skjoldhammer will lead the challenge in a Ford Racing Ranger, and Special Vehicle racer Brandon Harcus will join Juan Mohr in another factory Ranger.  We can’t wait to see what these great teams will come up with.  Bevan Bertholdt and Robin Houghton was last year’s winners at the Carnival City 400 in a Toyota Hilux and hopes to continue their victory this year.

Former Class E champions Hugo and Jaap de Bruyn, who will move from Class D into the SP category, will join two factory Toyotas.  With lots of experience, the De Bruyns might walk away with the title this year.

This year, no less than 18 entries in Class A of the Special Vehicle category for the Nissan Dealer 400 were received.  With a whole bunch of challengers behind them, 2006 champions Alfie Cox and navigator Hennie Ter Steege will start as favourites along with BAT team mates Evan Hutchison/Achim Bergman.

Nick and Ryan Harper will join Gary Bertholdt and Henry Kerstein (BAT) in a new BAT Spec 2 –S.  Class B champions Ernest Corbett and Warwick Goosen will miss the Darling race but will be replaced by Jan and Hendrik Kraaij.

Class S will have teams including Nic Goslar and Richard Carolin and Richard Schilling and Chris Davies in an Aceco.  Goslar is the Drivers’ champion and with Davies crowned as Co-driver last year, there is sure to be a lot of tension on the track.
