Nissan Pathfinder comes with all the trimmings

Electronic hill descent and ascent are standard on all automatic transmission versions of the Nissan Pathfinder.

According to the Rosslyn-based manufacturer, the new Pathfinder also comes with interior panel enhancements.  Roel de Vries, Nissan SA’s director of marketing and sales, says that many of their customers are completing high mileages, indicating that many of them use it for commuting to and from work during the week, but also as a family vehicle over weekends.  The technical upgrades to the Pathfinder will appeal in particular to the “leisure off-roader” buyers.

The hill descent control (HDC) can be used when travelling to the bottom of an off-road slope, utilising the braking system and the compression of the engine to maintain a reasonable speed down steep gradients.  Once the driver reaches the bottom of the hill, the HDC will automatically turn off.

The hill ascent control (HAC) is used when the vehicle is stopped on an incline and the brakes are depressed.  The HAC will automatically engage and hold the vehicle in place for up to three seconds, allowing the driver time to reach the throttle pedal without the vehicle rolling backwards, and when the vehicle moves forward again, the HAC will automatically disengage.
