Honda CR-V: A New Generation of Comfort

The 2007 Honda CR-V is not the sexiest car around but it is very comfortable and reliable – as Hondas usually are.

It is not a flashy car but it sure is handy.  It is equipped with all-wheel drive and the “Real Time 4WD” system engages the four-wheel drive whenever it senses it is needed, providing great stability in bad weather conditions and through sharp corners.

It reaches 100km/h in 10.2 seconds (12.2 for the auto) and getting there is easy.  The CR-V has plenty of low-end torque (190Nm at 4200rpm) and is quiet and vibration-free.

The cabin is fairly standard, no fancy gadgets and controls that you never use anyway.  It has leather seats and a few storage compartments for eyewear and the like.  The boot space is divided into two parts – a removable top shelf that is able to carry up to 10kg and the lower part, which is the actual boot, that can take up to 443 litres with the rear seats up and when folding the seats, a maximum of 955 litres.

The CR-V is easy to handle and fun to drive.  It might not be able to really “take you to the great outdoors in comfort” as stated on Honda’s website, but it’s a nice family car that can do some gravel roads and a bit of climbing when needed.

Prices range between R268 000 for the CR-V RVi to R309 500 for the CR-V RVSi a/t.
